Chinese ambassador Song Tao inspected Philippines-Sino Center of Agricultural Technologies (PILSCAT) on May 16th, 2008. Accompanied by commercial counselor Liang Wentao and directors of PILSCAT, Ambassador Song Tao inspected the laboratory, demonstration hall of Chinese agricultural machineries, photo gallery and testing plantation of hybrid rice varieties. Ambassador Song was briefed with results of the project and inquired about marketing and application of Chinese agricultural techniques.

In his speech at Project Brief held by PILSCAT, Ambassador Song cited PILSCAT's achievements in technology research and promotion in the past 5 years, as well as the project's positive role in promoting Sino-Philippines agricultural cooperation and friendship. Ambassador appreciated support and devotion of Philippine partner and experts, and praised the Chinese experts who, without ostentation, have been working afar from their families and contributing to the friendship between two countries. Citing the current situation of international food shortage and price hike, Ambassador underscored importance of strengthening Sino-Philippines agricultural cooperation and foresaw further advance and development from present achievements.

President of Central Luzon State University and Philippine director of PILSCAT thanked China for its selfish assistance, highly valued the positive effects of project towards RP agricultural development, and prospected continuation of bilateral agricultural cooperation.
