On 4 October, 2005, Ambassador Wu Hongbo of China was conferred the Philippine Congressional Medal of Achievement by His Honorable Speaker Jose de Venecia, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, who extolled Amb. Wu's outstanding diplomatic achievements, particularly in the promotion of Philippines-China friendly ties and cooperation. The solemn ceremony was held in Makati Shangri-la Hotel. Over 70 people from the Philippine congress, government, business sector and the diplomatic corps attended the event.

After the ceremony, Hon. Speaker and Mrs. de Venecia hosted a farewell dinner in honor of Amb. Wu.
