|
2006/03/17 |
| On March 16, 2006, the Philippine Bureau of Customs, Philippine National Police and National Bureau of Investigation conducted a joint law-enforcement inspection in the "168" market in the neighborhood of China Town. The raid was aimed at finding out commodities smuggled into the Philippine market. Goods of some Chinese businessmen are temporarily confiscated as the owners failed to produce their Customs Clearance Certificates or Business Invoices. The Philippine Authorities concerned requested them to come up with the above-mentioned certificates or invoices within one week, otherwise further legal action would be taken against those goods. In accordance with the relevant law of the Philippines, it is illegal for foreign citizens to engage in retail business in the Philippines. The Chinese Embassy hereby cautions Chinese citizens residing in the Philippines or those planning to visit the Philippines to abide by the rules and regulations of the Philippines, conduct business activities legally and refrain from carrying out any activities which are not in line with their visa purpose. |
