Both sides agreed to maintain close communication to this end to ensure a smooth success and fruitful outcomes from the exchanges between both heads of state and at all levels.

Wang Yi noted that China and the US will carry out high-level dialogues and practical cooperation in diplomacy, security, trade, economy, law enforcement, network, people-to-people and cultural engagement and other extensive fields. The essence of China-US economic and trade relations is mutual benefit. China and the US agreed to continue to strengthen communication and cooperation in Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, the Afghan issue, the Syrian issue and other regional hotspot issues, push forward the course of solving the relevant issues and maintain close communication and coordination within the United Nations, the G20, APEC and other multilateral mechanisms.

Wang Yi pointed out that it is normal for China and the US to have some differences and different views. I have expounded China's principles and stance on the Taiwan question, the Diaoyu Island issue, the issue of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense missile defense system and other issues. Both China and the US should handle, control sensitive issues and differences in a constructive way.

Wang Yi stressed that as two major countries with global influence, the importance of China-US relations is self-evident. We both believed that ensuring a sustained, healthy and stable development of bilateral relations totally conforms to the fundamental interests of the two peoples, and also is the general expectation of the international community. We all agreed to, in line with the principles featuring no conflict, no confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, further strengthen communication, expand cooperation, enhance mutual trust and properly handle differences, so as to push China-US relations for greater progress in the new era and better benefit the two peoples as well as people of the world.
